Description

Since the tax of the macadam extending from Jerusalem to Jaffa was put again to auction, a letter was sent from the office of Mutasarrifate to the Kaymakamlık of Jaffa in order to notify Jerusalem if any suitor comes to the fore. Meanwhile, it is necessary to notify Jaffa that the said macadam tax shall be given to the suitor at a rate of 120,000 piasters as respected current akçe and that in accordance with legal provisions the price shall be raised by three percent if the decision period of the tender is extended. In the event that any suitor accepting these terms comes to the fore, it is appropriate to notify the Kaymakamlık of Jaffa with a written decree in order to report the matter to Jerusalem. The 17th of Mârt (1)315 (29th of March 1899).
