Description | The repairing of two carriage roads, the first that extends from Jaffa Gate until the municipality, and the second from the big municipal hotel until Tulûl al Masâbin palace next to the rose orchard, has been proposed for Dutch auction and delegated to the keeping of the applicants. Upon deliberations we found that the municipal council should repair the mentioned roads by proxy. Accordingly, it has been decided that one of us, the respectable, the president of the council with the respectable Hâj Bakr Effendi al Nashâshîbî, and the second engineer Nasrî Effendi should be assigned to supervise the carriage road that extends from the mentioned hotel until Tulûl al Masâbin, while the respectable Zakî Effendi with the respectable Mustafâ Effendi and the first engineer are assigned to supervise the repairs of the road that extends from inside Damascus Gate until the border of the respected government. One of us, the respectable Sa‘d al Dîn Effendi and Yashû‘â Effend were appointed to supervise the mentioned road, while Tahir Effendi and the respectable Nâjî Effendi will be in charge of the repairing of the government road. In order to start work and pay the necessary expenditure gradually from the municipality’s treasury for the recommended personnel and make a ledger for each week, this decision was taken on the 13th of Aylûl (1)317 (26th of September 1901). [6 signatures] Because of my illness I don’t agree to be appointed as functionary of the government’s carriage road inside the city, Nasrî. |
