Description

There is a request for replacing the High Rabbi of Damascus, Mercado Efendi, with one elected by the community. Since it is not possible to make appointments in this fashion, the Justice Ministry proposed to appoint Ebu'l-asafiyye Efendi as caretaker until a final appointment has been made, and to consider for the post Hazkiye Efendi, currently occupied with the election of the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem. 1: signed by Justice and Religious Sects custody; 2: no signature.
